Yesterday was another lovely day out for me. I think Pat and Jack enjoyed it too, we had a lot of laughs.
We travelled to Stratford, and "Yes", it's called Stratford because it has a lovely Play House there where many famous people have performed. The Play House overlooks Avon Lake where we got out and stretched our legs and had a look at all the Ducks, Swans and Canadian Geese. A large flock of Canadian Geeses flew overhead while we were there and you guessed it. One, or maybe two, pooped on me !! One of them said " Hey, there's an Aussie Rubbernecker, let's Poop on her". Pat and Jack were highly amused !!
We continued on from Stratford into Amish Country. As Pat said, " Let's go stalk the Amish".!!!We had lunch at an Amish Restaurant called " Aunty Mays ". The food was good, the service was slow.1 1/2 hours later we went stalking the Buggy People!
We thought they were hiding to begin with because they were few and far between but as the day wore on, out they came.I found their homes very interesting. They start off with the main house and as the family grow and get families of their own they build on to the main house, which means there are a lot of families living at the one address. We came across quite a few travelling along the road, so have taken photos which I will attach.
We also went to West Montrose where the last remaining covered bridge in Canada spans the Nith River. It reminded me of that movie called " Bridges of Maddison County".I loved the bridge.
We had dinner at a town called St. Marys where there is a large Lime-stone Quarry. Need I tell you that a lot of the homes are made of this material and are really lovely.A couple of the churches are made of the lime-stone too and are beautiful.
We arrived home about 6.45pm, watched a Shirley Temple movie on TV and went to bed at midnight.A good day weather-wise again. Some-one up there must like me because today has been miserably wet.
