Australia Day 26/01/08

It was hot again today and we tossed up about going anywhere at all or staying home with the Air-conditioning. In the end we decided to do a Fremantle Prison Tour, so we set off for Fremantle about 1pm and went on the tour at 2pm. There was a lovely cool sea breeze in at Fremantle and we made the most of it before doing the tour because our guide told us it would be very hot once we were inside the prison building. He wasn't wrong ! The Prison was built by convicts out of Limestone rock they quarried themselves and it is the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere. We all found the tour very interesting, as you will be able to see from the pics.
Leaving there we went to South Beach where Pat and Jack walked down to the water and dipped their feet.
We made our way home looking at how people were spending their day along the Swan River. I was glad to be home in the cool house again, but Pat and Jack headed into the city by train to watch the Skyshow which was being held on Perth Waters. They said there was a big crowd there and they enjoyed the fireworks display. They arrived home about 10.30 pm . To all in Canada.........I'm sure they will tell you all about it when they reach home.
Tomorrow is going to be another hot day, (as is Monday and Tuesday.) We will decide what we will do when it arrives.
