Since Pat and Jack Arrived

Pat and Jack arrived from Canada last Thursday (3rd Jan.2008) to a very hot Perth. It had been 38degs on the Wednesday and when they arrived at 12 20am there was a hot gully wind blowing and it was still pretty hot. (especially for Snow Birds from Canada !)
Pat and Jack caught up a bit on the sleep they had missed on the plane and as the Temp. outside was 41degs we all thought it was a good idea to stay inside and keep the Air-conditioning company.
It cooled down on Friday so I was able to take them on the grand tour of Perth and the Swan River. We all enjoyed our day out and Jack commented on what a clean city Perth is. We had lunch at a fancy Italian restrauant, paid an arm, a leg, and our first born child and still walked out hungry ! By Dinner time we were a bit more "canny' and went to the International Eating House where we were able to have a cheap meal.
Saturday was a day to see the beaches. I had the rather stupid idea of taking Pat and Jack to see Hilarys Marina !! The car park was completly full,so I think I will have to take them down there on a week day. Anyway we drove along the coast to Fremantle where we went out on North Mole and watched a very large ship being brought into Port. We all found it interesting. From there we travelled back via the Southern side of the Swan River. We called in and had a look at Point Peron where the Sand Bar went half way out into the river. The tide must have been right out ! We then travelled on and doubled back to Kings Park and drove through there and then around Parliment House . From there it was a drive around Perth City and then home. It was a lovely day and the weather was perfect.
Today,6th Jan. was a bit warmer but we ventured out and drove to The Margaret River Chocolate Factory, sight seeing along the way. Oh we did have a lovely time amongst the Chocolates !! Lovely free samples !!
The Chocolate Factory is in the Swan Valley so we toured around having a look at various places with Pat keeping a sharp look out for Kangaroos. We eventually saw a couple but they were to far away to show up in a photo, of which Pat took two.We did see a beautiful show of wild flowers out on Beechboro Road, but I am unable to name them. On out way home we called into Bunnings where we bought some plants and Mulch for Jack to put on my garden. He kindly offered to do this for me so I thought I would really give him something to do ! I bought Carpet roses to plant out in the front garden, I really hope they grow and cover the very dry looking sand. Hopefully they will survive the intense heat.
Tomorrow we have been told to expect another very hot day with a temp.of 40degs. So it looks like a home day tomorrow with the Air-con.
