If your wondering why there hasn't been any Posts for the last few days, it's because my visitors have moved over to Judy and Rags' place and at the moment they are all down around the South West of Western Australia. I hope they are enjoying themselves, but who knows ?? At least they will be in a cooler climate. I saw on the Weather Report that the Temp. was only 27degs in Albany today. It was almost 37degs here in Perth and very humid. They had better enjoy the cooler weather because when they return to Perth it is going to be hot until the day Pat and Jack leave here tomorrow week. Their holiday in Perth seems to have slipped by so quickly.
Will try and add to this again before they leave. They are due back in Perth again on Friday.

Thelma,
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to more adventures when J&P are back. Questions for you: What is - a Galah, a Ute? Where did you get the pottery thermometer? VERY nice. Is it usual to have children's names on tombstones in Australia? A great idea - we usually have only parents mentioned - son of, daughter of . . . Hear from you next week?

Thanks for the comments Sitting Duck and I will try and answer your questions as best I can. First of all a Galah. A Galah is a grey and pink native bird (about the size of a pidgeon)from the parrot family. A cute bird and a great talker if trained, but.....when it is used in a sentence as "What a galah?" it means that someone has acted stupidly.
A "Ute" is a Utility Vehicle used a great deal in the country for carrying bales of hay or anything one needs to get from A to B. It usually only has a front cabin which seats 3 people.Although the car makers are now making larger cabin Utes which will hold more people. I drove a Ute in my younger days delivering Spare Car Parts around Perth and found them great to drive.
The Pottery Thermometer was given to me as a gift, but they are quite common in the shops,it's really great, isn't it.
I don't quite understand your next question. Are our Tombstones so different to yours? Were I to "Fall off the Perch" tomorrow I would like to think my Tombstone read: Thelma Dyer dearly loved Mother of Judy and Steve. And the date of my death would be on it somewhere too. If I was still married my husband's name would come before my children's. I don't think there's any hard and fast rule about what is written on a tombstone. It's all up to what the family wish.
Hope I've answered your questions in an understandable way. If not, let me know and I'll give it another go. Cheers.

I had to look up Albany on the map. What a difference 500 km makes in temperature. Do they have cooler ocean currents, or is it just the more southernly lattitude that makes the difference? It is hard to believe that Albany is only about 4000 km from Antartica. We're looking forward to more pictures.

Thanks for comments Jack and Nicole, I hate it when I type the blog and get no comments at all.
I'm hoping that Pat and Jack will get as far as Albany, they are in Judy and Rags' hands so will have to go where they are taken I suppose.I know that they were spending the 4 nights in a lovely town called Margaret River.
I think the difference in the Temp.from Perth to Albany occurs because Perth is situated on the Indian Ocean and Albany is situated on the Southern Ocean.Perth has been getting the hot weather from an Easterly wind that comes right across the desert bringing the heat with it. The South West of W.A.seldom seems to get the hot winds. When it does, believe me when I say it gets very hot down there, but it never seems to last as long as our heat waves.
We have had heavy rains in Perth today, the first rain for 50 days and it has brought the coldest Feb. day in Perth for 17 years! The temp. was 21.7degs max. 19 to 29degs tomorrow and the day Pat and Jack leave Perth it is forecast to be 38degs. I wonder if they have had enough of the hot weather yet?
If I can get my hands on the Memory Card out of their camera there will be more photos of their holiday on my blog, otherwise there will only be photos that I will take with my camera.
Bye now, Thelly
