An Afternoon touring around the Darling Ranges
Tuesday 8th Jan.
We decided to have to have a morning at home and journey out for the afternoon to the Darling Ranges for a drive . The Darling Ranges overlook Perth and are quite beautiful in parts. We travelled up Albany Highway and turned off at Brookton Highway and it was my intention to go to Mundaring Weir, but somewhere along the road I missed the turn-off. Must have been Pat and Jack making me laugh and not pay attention to where I was going, we'll blame them ! If I had kept going we would have ended up in Beverley.
We were hoping to see a Kangaroo, but ofcourse they were back away from the road sleeping.
Don't ask me how but we did see the Canning Dam, but the views were nothing speccie. We were at the Canning Dam when Pat and I decided to go to the toilet. I went in first and although there were webs around I didn't see the owners, but the next thing I heard was Pat telling me she wasn't putting her bum anywhere in there because she said there was a huge spider on the door frame. "Where!" "Where!" Said Thelma. "There!" "There!" Screams Pat. If you look through the photos you will see the spider that caused all the to-do. It was a baby, (albeit a large one,) Huntsman Spider. Natives to Australia. Harmless but scary to look at!
After we had meandered through the ranges for awhile we eventually went to Kalamunda, a very pretty hills suburb of Perth and had a welcome drink and a bit of sustenance which we bought at Brumby's Bakery.
From there it was all downhill to home after a lovely day out.
Today ,Wednesday 9th Jan.
Jack and Pat have made me the envy of all the other Residents in this complex. They have been working in my garden. Weeds have been hunted out and destroyed, plants have been repotted, hanging baskets have been renewed, and various plants have been planted in the front garden. I bought some Carpet Roses and hopefully they will spread throughout the garden.A number of bags of Mulch have finished it off and it now looks delightful. I may have to take enclose a photo of it on this blog !They have both worked very hard ! Come and have a holiday at Thelly's, I'm sure you'll be glad to get home for a rest !!
