Pat watching the small islands slip by as we neared Penang. Unfortunately the Port of Penang is being renovated and as the sea was a bit rough Liz, Pat, Brad and I decided to stay on board the ship rather than take the chance of going ashore on the Tender. Both Liz and Pat suffer a bit with motion sickness. And as it's a well known fact that I fall over and off things I thought I'd put distance between myself and the Ship's Tender. A fall was the last thing I needed at this stage of the cruise. So we stayed aboard for Happy Hour in one of the lounges where we met 3 very nice ladies who had gone ashore and then got back on the Tender straight away because they were so hassled by Drivers wanting to show them around,so they came to the lounge where we were . We all decided to hire a mini-bus to share when we went ashore at Phuket the next day. And it turned out to be an excellent idea. We were met at the wharf and not only had a driver but a guide as well who told us where we were and what we were seeing and taking us wherever we requested.
The exciting scene that greeted us at Phuket !! Under the green covers were hawkers ready to sell us what ever we wanted. In the background are some old DC3 air-craft. Left over from WW2 I presume as a Memorial. It's a wonder they haven't rusted out.
