Seattle 2nd September 2006

Had a big day out in Seattle today. Helena & I both slept in this morning so didn't get going until 11am, then we headed for the the City and the sights. What an eye-opener !! I realise now I am really only a girl from the "Sticks"!!
There were Cruise ships docked that were heading for Alaska that day so you can imagine the crowd that was around. The Port is very close to the city so the passengers didn't have far to walk. The Pike Place market was very close too so we had a look in there as well, but it was very hot and stuffy and I had soon had enough of it. You see one Market, you see them all!!!
There were lots of homeless people around, sleeping in the streets, on the lawns, on the bench seats, under bridges, in fact they were everywhere. Really opened my eyes ! And they have to throw their rubbish somewhere so it makes the city look very dirty. My first impression of Seattle was, big, crowded and dirty. And very hilly, more mountainous really ! !Very steep hills right in the city. Helena showed me Seattle by driving around, up and down streets as the will took her.Showed me the poor areas, the University area, the inner city wealthier area and Broadway where the "Gays" hang out.In all some very interesting sights. We also saw the Space Needle which is 184 meters high. It's very much like the one in Sydney. I tried to take a photo of it but parking was at a premium so I tried to do my best from the car. I took quite a lovely lot of photos, but could have trouble putting them on this blog because this computer of Helena's keeps freezing up. I'll see how it goes though.
The weather is sunny and warm.
By the way, how are the Eagles going with the football?
