Birr, London, Ontario 3rd October, 2006

Hello from Birr. I am now on my last stop in Canada. And it wasn't a good plane journey getting here !!
Jackie, Graham and I left for the Vancouver Airport around 7am Monday morning. We said our farewells just after 8am and I was taken to my flight on one of the motorised carts they have. Once again it would have been a very long walk to get to the boarding terminal. I was lucky, or unlucky , to get a window seat. Then along came 2 Japanese women and one of them was interlectually handicapped, and sat next to me. I had no trouble with that until I wanted to go to the toilet !! The handicapped woman slept most of the time and I didn't want to wake her up, so I held on !!Anyway when we were preparing to land a man announced over the intercom that anyone needing assistance was asked to stay seated until everyone else was off. So I stayed seated.Everyone else was off but no-one approached me so I thought if I didn't want to be thrown out by the cleaning staff I'd better find my own way. By the time I walked up the concourse I had had it. There was a wheel chair there for me,so an Air Canada lady said she would take me to my luggage. Fine thought I...........wrong !! When we arrived at the Luggage Carousel she said " I don't have time for this, your luggage will come out on Carousel 4, keep the wheel-chair to carry your cases", and she was gone !! How's that for service ????I'm sure glad I wasn't crippled or missing some legs or I would be still sitting there.I would not recommend Air Canada to anyone! There wasn't even a meal served,(unless you wanted to pay through the nose for it). Anyway I managed to get my suit-case and find the Robert Q Bus to take me to London. A journey of about 2 hours. It was quite an interesting bus trip on a really good highway. I was amazed at all the semi-trailers that were on the road. They out-numbered the cars by about 5 to 1.
Eventually I arrived in London and was met by my 3rd cousin, Pat and her husband, Jack, and we travelled home to Birr, where we talked till mid-night.I didn't wake up until almost 10.30 am the next morning.
Jack had already gone to work but Pat took the day off to welcome me. We did a bit of food shopping, called in to their store where I had a quick look around, ( And you were right Judy, I will spend all day looking around in it)and then Pat took me to the Haidresser where I had my hair washed , cut, and blow dried for $25.00. We then came home, had Dinner and talked into the night.
Today, Wednesday 4th October, Pat went off to work and I stayed home and caught up on a few things I wanted to do and to also stick around for the man to come and install Broad-band on Pat's computer. Yippee, it's great. Bye for now.
