Went to the Ice Hockey and if I could have kept my eye on the Puck I may have been able to follow the game better. I found it a very fast game and most of the players seem to enjoy having a "stoush" at every opportunity. Actually I thought I was going to be involved in one myself !!We seemed to have a small team of kids, from the ages of about 9 to 14 years old in front of us. Standing up during the game and generally making a nuisance of themselves, Pat was really getting cheesed off with them. But we managed to get out of there without blood being shed and a good time was had by all !!!
Saturday was a work day for Pat and Jack, and a busy one at that !But Pat's brother and his wife, ( Dave and Barb) came for a Turkey dinner, so Pat came home earlier than usual. The Canadians serve mashed potatoes with Roast Turkey which I find strange. So I suggested to Pat that I cook some roast potatoes, and as the Sweet Potato wasn't cooked enough I threw that into the baking dish too.It all seemed to go down well, and we had a very nice meal.
Dave and Barb stayed overnight and as soon as they left we were on our way to do some sight-seeing.
The first place we went to was a road called "Roman Line." ( The area around here was settled by the Irish and ofcourse they brought there hostilities with them from Ireland) so the Roman Line separated the Catholics and the Protestents. There was a family called the Donnellys. I won't go into the history of it all here, but 5 of the Donnellys were brutally murdered in their home in the middle of the night, and no-one has ever been charged with their murder. So the whole story has become a bit of a legend around these parts. We next visited the Donnelly Grave and I was surprised to see quite a bit of money on the head-stone. Jack said people put it their hoping it will buy their place in Heaven.
Obviously there's not much of a drug problem here, that money wouldn't last 5 mins. in Perth !! From there we continued North taking photos of the beautiful Autumn trees that are covered in all their red, orange and yellow leaves. What a sight !!We past through little towns which would mean nothing to you if I named them, so I won't !One place I found interesting was the old Ipperwash Army Camp. The Native Indians, (Feather) have now layed claim to it and put a fence and stop gates across the entries to it.We drove down to the beach at Lake Huron and they have even layed claim to the part of the Provintual Park and the beach that joins it.Naturally I had to have my photo taken on the Indian (Feather) part of the beach, which is definately a NO NO.
Hurom Lake is so huge, it is like an inland sea. Mitchigan is on the other side of it.About 40 miles across.
After all our sight-seeing we arrived at Pat and Jack's son's and daughter-in-laws house for another Thanks Giving Dinner. It's a wonder the table didn't collapse with all the food on it ?I enjoyed my dinner very much but was unable to eat any of the delicious sweets on offer because I was full of turkey. We are going over there again tonight, perhaps I will get another go at the sweets ????
