Niagara Falls 11th Oct. 2006

Well Ontario has certainly done itself proud. We went to Niagara Falls yesterday and the weather was perfect, the Autumn leaves were at their very best, and Niagara Falls was magnificent ! Jack said he hadn't seen so much water coming over the falls for years. I just loved it even though I recieved a thorough drenching from the fine mist coming off the Falls. I had a jacket with a hood over all my clothes and when I took it off the water ran off it.!!!
We had a good look around there then continued down river to the Whirlpool area 5.2 km from the Falls. The whirlpool area is like a cove where the water flows in and goes out again. It is very deep in some areas and apparently some of the water that is down deep has been there for hundreds of years. We took photos of the Whirlpool Cable Car there, and "No" I did not go across on it.!!We wended our way around the river until we came to the Queenstown Heights Restaurant and Park. Here we took piccies and fed the inner man. The food was very good but the scenery was even better. I will endeavour to put photos of it on this blog. From here we went further around the river where Jack and Pat showed me the Historic house that was shelled by the French years ago.Old Fort Erie was also pointed out to me. I have pictures of this and the French fort at the mouth of the river. We continued on to one of the prettiest little towns I have ever visited, called, Niagara On The Lake. It was just a mass of colour and Tourists !! Wide beds of flowers were massed with colourful flowers down the Nature Strips and all the street lights were like big baskets of flowers. There were a lot of very wealthy homes there too, really lovely homes which I shall try to include on the blog.
Time was getting on so we headed for home. My head was still going from left to right, there just seems so much to see and with the beautiful trees everywhere I felt I was a genuine "Rubber Necker!!"
We stopped on our way home at the Pancake House for a bite to eat but only Jack chose to have a Maple Syrup Pancake. Pat had French Toast, and I had Eggs on Toast. We arrived home in the dark and although Pat and Jack sat up watching a movie on TV, I chose to go to bed a quarter way through it. I was so tired .
Today I woke to a very wet day, it is cold and windy and Pat said there is a light fall of snow fore-cast for tomorrow. It will probably melt as it hits the ground, but I will be happy to just see it !!
For Rags and Jim.................get stuffed!! In actual fact, I think I have lost weight if anything.!!!
