Downtown Vancouver 18th Sept.2006

Here I am again to tell you of my day out today with Helena, Jackie and Graham.
Helena and I were both pretty tired after our day at Whistler and we both slept-in this morning so by the time we all set off it was about 1pm. We walked down and caught the Sky Train which was a new experience for Helena and I, and we had good views of Downtown Vancouver and as I sat next to Graham he was able to tell me what I was looking at.Jackie did the same for Helena. We then walked down River Street in Gastown and looked in the shops. Once again we were caught up with Tourists from a cruise ship which Jackie told us was probably the last cruise to Alaska.
We had a late lunch at "The Old Spaghetti Factory". It has an interesting history. Vancouver was born just 50 yards East of the Spag.Factory. Gastown was named after the notorious saloon keeper, Gassy Jack Deighton. (Poor man probably had a lot of wind!!Just as well they call it gas over here and not F..t!!!!)
We arrived home about 6pm, but no-one was hungry. We were all full of Spaghetti.
Tomorrow Helena and I are going over to Victoria Island on the ferry. We are going to do the touristy thing then go to some friends of Helena's and spend the night.( It's great having friends in all these different places!)
Helena and I worked out our combined expenses this morning for our Rockie Mountain trip and it came to just over $1,100 for the 2 of us. We thought that was reasonable as we didn't worry about costs to much. Helena's car is a Honda Hybrid, and we travelled about 2,000 Kilometers for $130.00. A very economical car. Do we have that type of car in Aust ?
Now I have to go and pack an over-night bag for tomorrow, bye for now. By the way Jude,it was good to hear from you and where have I been that you haven't ?
