Albany West. Aust 16/08/07

I'm now back home again. Judy and I arrived back in Perth about 4pm. Neither of us really wanted to be back, but Judy is returning to work on Monday, so we had to come back. After reading the comments on my last posting, it's just as well I am back to pull a couple of blokes in the Computer Lounge into shape.A woman leave the place for a week and they think they can shoot their mouths off !! I may not talk to them when I go in Monday.........
After we had booked into the Motel at Margaret River we went down to see my Grandson, Clint, who is living in Gracetown. I had never been to Gracetown and neither had Jude, so it was breaking new ground for both of us. By the time we arrived it was getting dark and after we had spent a very pleasent hour or so talking to Clint we headed back to the Motel in the dark. Clint warned us about the kangaroos that may be around crossing the road, but we never saw one,so that was good.
Next day we were off again, and after calling into the Internet Cafe once again to put the photos on my last blog our next stop was Nannup where they are holding a Tulip Festival at the end of this month. There were quite a lot of Tulips in bloom already and they looked lovely. Jude had had the Nannup Bakery recommended to her so we had to check that out. Oh Yes, very nice!
Our next stop was The Gloucester Tree at Pemberton and I think this may have been one of the highlights of our trip !All the little Parrots are so tame. A man gave us a biscuit to hold out to them and the next thing we knew they were all over us. On our heads and eating while sitting on our hands. They were beautiful. And "Yes" they did leave a little calling card on my shoulder !!We then went on to the Lavender and Berry Farm where we managed to spend a bit of money and have a coffee and feed a couple of Llamas that are there.By the time we got going again it was beginning to rain lightly and night time seemed to come in with a rush so we headed into Denmark where we found another Motel for the night.
We left Denmark the next morning and after visiting the very famous Bakery there, we travelled into Albany via the Scenic Route. A very lovely drive. I had rung up Laurie, a man who worked in the computer room with us, and had arranged to meet him and his wife at Dylans Cafe at 4pm. They had both been working that day so Jude and I had a look around Albany, visited Harvey Normans where Jude was hoping to be able to buy a new battery already charged for her camera, no luck with that, but I bought a new Doover for my camera,( A Memory card for those who don't know what a Doover is) and as we weren't going see Laurie and Lyn's lovely home to catch up with them, I told Jude we'd better go and take a photo of it because that mob back in the computer room would want to know if it was worth moving to Albany for.And it was !! We caught up with Laurie and Lyn and spent a very enjoyable hour and a half with them. We were so sorry not to be able to spend longer, but they had animals at home waiting to be fed so we said our "Good-byes" with promises of meeting up with them in 6 or 7 weeks when they have to come up to Perth. And if your reading this Laurie and Lyn, don't forget, we have a dinner date !!
Today, Friday 17th August we headed home via Albany Highway. Took a few nice photos which I will put on this blog.
And now I'm off to bed. It will be good to sleep in my own bed tonight although I was lucky, and only spent one night in a not so comfortable bed while we were Motel hopping. Cheers
