A very good show was performed in the Ampi-theater. That is a real man in the cage being held by the "Gorilla".

The Orang Utan doing his bit for the crowd by tearing a coconut to pieces.

The performers were very good.

There's a black monkey in this picture down by the trunk. The performer is looking at it.

We had to go to the Singapore Zoo ofcourse where we spent an enjoyable couple of hours.

The Elephants having their baths.

Then coming to the crowd for their "Treats" which were sold to the viewers for $5 per small basket of fruit.

These Seals are very good statues. We didn't see the real things.

A rather nice view from the cafe' where we had morning tea in Singapore.

For the "Computer Nerds' looking at this Blog, this is Computer Heaven. There are floor after floor of computers, digital cameras, and mobile phones at Sim Lims.I would have liked to spend more time here, but for a non-computer person like Liz it would have been to boring. It was also very crowded. Liz commented on the lack of women in the crowd, but I didn't notice!

The Road our Hotel, (The Grand Roxy Mecure) was situated on.

The same road showing the Formula 1 advertising on the right.

There was a water display happening when this photo was taken. It was really lovely.

A couple of the small uninhabited islands in the Mallucca Straits. One has a lighthouse on it.

Our last breakfast on board. We reached Singapore a couple of hours later.

The Temples are beautiful as is obvious.

And it's all so lush and green.

Liz thought she would show her back and that's Brad looking at the Fan Palm.

Pat watching the small islands slip by as we neared Penang. Unfortunately the Port of Penang is being renovated and as the sea was a bit rough Liz, Pat, Brad and I decided to stay on board the ship rather than take the chance of going ashore on the Tender. Both Liz and Pat suffer a bit with motion sickness. And as it's a well known fact that I fall over and off things I thought I'd put distance between myself and the Ship's Tender. A fall was the last thing I needed at this stage of the cruise. So we stayed aboard for Happy Hour in one of the lounges where we met 3 very nice ladies who had gone ashore and then got back on the Tender straight away because they were so hassled by Drivers wanting to show them around,so they came to the lounge where we were . We all decided to hire a mini-bus to share when we went ashore at Phuket the next day. And it turned out to be an excellent idea. We were met at the wharf and not only had a driver but a guide as well who told us where we were and what we were seeing and taking us wherever we requested.

The exciting scene that greeted us at Phuket !! Under the green covers were hawkers ready to sell us what ever we wanted. In the background are some old DC3 air-craft. Left over from WW2 I presume as a Memorial. It's a wonder they haven't rusted out.

The Elephants are considered lucky. Here's a happy little herd of them.

The Pool Bar

Pat, Liz and Brad relaxing before the heat came in. Pat is a lifelong friend of mine who was on the cruise by coincidence and Brad is her son. It was good to have friends onboard, even though we met other people as well. This was our first day out.

Saying Goodbye to the ship's Pilot. The ships in the distance bear truth to Singapore being one of the busiest Sea Ports in the world.

Singapore and Cruise on the Aquarius

Liz and I arrived in Singapore on the 4th September 2008 where we were boarding the Aquarius the next afternoon to cruise to Penang, Phuket and Port Klang, well that's what we thought! We had thought it strange when it stated on our tickets which we had received from the Travel agent, Flight Centre, Belmont, that we went out to sea from Singapore where we stayed for a couple of days and then sailed back into Singapore where some passengers disembarked and others embarked. Now we know why !! For the first 2 nights we were anchored in the South China Sea while all the gamblers enjoyed themselves in the Casino !We were virtually on a Floating Casino, and we were not impressed !! Liz and I would have been quite happy to have stayed in Singapore and boarded the ship on the Sunday.
The photos of Liz and the Aquarius were taken on the 5th September. We visited China Town where I took the photo of Liz. It was all really pretty with the decorations. I quite enjoyed walking around China Town looking at all the cheap Nic-nacs.

This waterfall was part of the decor in the Furama Hotel where we spent the first night of our holiday.
